All Malaysian should be proud of Malaysia's achievement. But one that is the Moral Education been added as one subject in the Education Syllabus. This subject has been introduced in school since 1989 through the "Sukatan Pelajaran Moral" but it remains unchanged until now. Children been educated Moral since Year 1 in school and the purpose is to let the young children to be a moralist when they grow up similar to the philosophy of the education that is "Berilmu Pengetahuan, Berakhlak Mulia dan Bertanggungjawab." It is good to give Moral Education to the young school children but there is one careless mistake that they did not take notice that is Moral is a practice but they take it as a theory where they make a test, exam for it like it is a very important subject that will help you future. Can you "Cari Makan" with just an "A" for your Moral? Or will you tell your son that feeding a hungry cat on the road side is call "Bertimbang Rasa" or helping blindman to cross a busy road is call "Baik Hati" and ask him to keep that in mind. Will you? Like I say Moral is a practice, would you keep the sixteen "Nilai" of this subject in mind, bring the sixteen "Nilai" to work, wedding, and until your funeral. Why we need more tension, more life pressure when everyone do have Moral in their soul. It is whether they want to show it up or not. You think a gangster is moraless. Maybe Moral subject in school will really help but will Moral test help too. The Moral test is just nonsense. In the test they will asked you a question like this :
You are a school prefect. One day you caught your best friend late in school. What will you do? Give your opinion.
It is clearly written "My Opinion" but the examiner only accept one answer that is :
You should report to the discipline teacher and help to explain why your friend is late.
There is many other better answer for this situation but the examiner only accept one answer. So what the point giving a test. Every year this Moral subject always pull down the non-muslims percentage in their SPM result.
Although Moral Education been added into the syllabus is a mistake but it still can keep on teaching in school but keep in mind that Moral is a practice not theory so they should discard the Moral as a subject in exam. Besides, we could deeper our Moral knowledge by attending out class activities through the school co-curriculums. Or add Moral knowledge to other subject like the History subject. This will help the poor children to improve their Moral knowledge with joyful not fearful for tomorrow Moral exam.
